November 20, 2020 in Activities

One of the greatest things to happen this year has been the opportunity to discover all the amazing places around our beautiful state. As the weather warms up and the holidays draw near, now is the time to get out and about with friends and family and visit all those places you always said you would. Living at Mosaic will offer a central location for you to access some of the most stunning and vibrant parts of WA and Perth, with our first lot release happening in 2021, now is the time to see just what you soon could be enjoying a small drive (or ferry ride!) away from your new home.

Have a picnic in Kings Park

Spring is the best time to pack a picnic and head to the iconic Kings Park for an afternoon with friends or family. There are so many great spots to park up for a few hours, kick a ball and let the kids run around. Find somewhere shady and quiet for a relaxing picnic or take the kids to the Ivey Watson Playground at the Lotterywest Family Area for some fun in the sun. There are some delicious dining options available at Kings Park too, such as Zamia, Stickybeaks and Botanical Café so be sure to pay them a visit for lunch or a coffee. Visit https://www.bgpa.wa.gov.au/ for information on different park areas and opening hours.

See the wildflowers at Araluen

Just 45km south-east of your home at Mosaic lies one of Perth’s hidden gems, Araluen Botanic Park. Nestled in serene Australian bushland, Araluen boasts a magnificent collection of internationally recognised flowers and gardens that make for a pretty breathtaking day out! The annual Tulip Festival is a huge drawcard for visitors during Spring and be sure to mark your diary for the Carols by Torchlight on Sunday 13th December, a great opportunity to pack a picnic and enjoy Christmas carols under the stars.

Pick some fruit
There is nothing better than biting into or cooking with freshly picked fruit and lucky for us, there are plenty of places near home for you to do just that. Jump in the car and head an easy 45 minutes to Golden Grove Orchard to join in their tractor rides and fruit picking tours that are running from Thursday to Sunday. The rides include a tour of the orchard, fruit picking from the trees, feeding the farm animals and use of the orchard picnic areas – fun for the whole family! Get active
If a more active day out sounds like your cup of tea, then pull on your hiking boots or pump up your bike tyres and get your body moving at one of the great hiking or bike trails around Perth. We love Mundaring Weir for its proximity to trails such as the Bibbulmun Track, C Y O’Connor Trail, Christmas Tree Creek Walk, Glen Brook Dam Walk, the Lake Leschenaultia walk and bike trails and so much more! Whether you prefer getting by on foot or two wheels, there is something for everyone. Plan your day to include a delicious bite to eat at one of Mundaring’s vibrant dining options, pint and a parmi anyone?! Fremantle

Perth’s port city is bustling with activities, hot new dining spots and shopping options that will fill your day out in no time. Only 30 minutes from Balcatta by car or train and rich in culture, Freo is a great place to visit to learn about WA’s rich and vast history, try a new restaurant or be enthralled by the vibrant entertainment and arts scene. If you’re visiting Fremantle for the first time, we highly recommend stopping by the Fremantle Markets home to delicious fresh produce and local artisans. Make your next destination one of the many museums or the Fremantle Arts Centre for some culture and history before resting your weary feet at the iconic Little Creatures Brewing for a delicious meal and glass of something cold. Check out https://www.visitfremantle.com.au/ to plan your day.

Head to Rotto
While you’re in Fremantle, hop on the ferry and spend a day at one of Perth’s world class travel destinations, Rottnest Island. Just a quick 30-minute trip over the Indian Ocean, Rottnest is undoubtedly one of the most popular places for a day, weekend or a longer stay with locals and tourists alike. This car free island paradise is a great place for travellers of all types and suits both relaxing active holidaymakers, with so much recent development on the island there are plenty of new spots to visit. Hire bikes, snorkels and surfboards or take your own and explore the pristine surrounds of a WA icon. Don’t forget a visit to the pub or Rottnest Bakery before you leave and see if you can snap a selfie with a Quokka! Book your day out here: https://rottnestisland.com/
