A popular Perth suburb, Balcatta is a thriving location where you’ll find plenty to see and do. Before the 1960s, land in Balcatta was predominantly used for market gardens and other agricultural activities. As residential development progressed rapidly from the late 1960s onwards, blue-collar workers began to put down roots in the area close to where they worked. First recorded by Alexander Forrest in 1877, Balcatta is the Aboriginal name for the northern portion of Careniup Swamp, derived from the words "bal", meaning his, and "katta", meaning hill.
Located in the City of Stirling, this suburb is now home to many families from different parts of the world, making up a connected, close-knit community of many cultures.
There are many reasons we love this suburb, from the café culture, to wide open spaces and beautiful areas to enjoy nature. We think everything you need is just minutes away from home which creates a vibrant, ever-evolving community.
For our residents soon to be calling Mosaic Balcatta home, here’s our guide to the ins and outs of your new suburb. It’s time to start exploring!
